that sounds crazy, but delicious

This morning, I discovered that I have 39 draft posts in various stages of readiness – some mostly written, some just a spark of an idea or simply a link.  From that pile, here is something lighter than yesterday’s post to round out the week.

Enjoy the weekend – if you find yourselves at the grocery store, you know what to do.

Improv Everywhere has done it again, with a mini-musical in the produce aisle.

The poeple they interview at the end are great – curious and wondering:

life… they turned life into a musical

but basically non-plussed by the whole thing:

just something spontaneous… I guess they do this here

They sure don’t do that at my grocery store.  I love the creativity and joy that Improv Everywhere brings to public spaces.  Chalk up one more reason to live in NYC.

If you are into spontaneous musicals, that is.

  • I love the idea that ANYONE can do this. This could be me or you (and 4 kooky friends, one of which would have to be Elizabeth). I also like that they carried on despite some grump-o-stares.
Creativity on its own is great, but it can also be political… I saw a great retooled lady gaga dance number done as a protest at a hotel that had some crummy labour practices. Awesome!

  • You are absolutely right: ANYONE can do this. But that hadn’t occurred to me. At all.

Let’s do it! Let’s get some kooky friends and/or family members (one of which would DEFINITELY have to be Elizabeth) and just do it. Wait – I can’t sing. NO, really. There would be more than grump-o-stares involved. But I can organise and scope locations and write and I can film shit happening.

When you get back (I mean back for reals, not just for short visits) let’s do it. Put it on your 2011 calendar!
