this is a picture I did not take

This is a picture I did not take: of the full moon rising over the lake, the opposite of shadow glimmering a path across the wide water, lighting the way for faeries; of the trees in the forest, standing silhouettes black as a deep well, reaching to the inky twilit sky not yet sprinkled with stars; of the golden maple leaves on the trail through the woods, a magic carpet reflecting the moonlight, showing me the way through the shadows.

This is a picture I would have taken, if I could have. Then again, maybe I did.

Inspired by Karen Walrond, and Andrea Jenkins
(who was in turn inspired by Michael David Murphy).
