hope and other powerful forces

Another in the light quotes series, for my one little word.

In Laini Taylor’s much-awarded Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Madrigal explains pulling on wishbones to Akiva.

He asks, “Then why do it?”

She shrugged. “Hope? Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there’s no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic.

Balancing being present with dreams and memories is tricky, and worth the effort. I also really like that my scientist sister has a dreamy, bliss side. To be whole people, we all need balance. I love you.
