After such a long hiatus, things are a little dusty around here. I’m in the process of changing things up a little Chez Scatterbeams – both in the front and the back of the house.

In the interest of transparency, I thought I’d share what’s up.

There’s a new theme for a cleaner, simpler reading experience – one that translates beautifully to mobile devices. If you are reading this somewhere else, do stop by the website home, and let me know what you think. Thumbs up?

I’m leaving comments open, but there will be a delay for you to see them on the page. I’m sure you’ll understand why I’m reviewing them before they publish.

Feedly doesn’t show my post layout well, and I’m not sure how posts appear in other RSS readers, so I’ve changed the RSS feed to an excerpt instead of the full post. This isn’t to drive more page views – that part isn’t important to me, as I have no advertiser base. But I do value ease of reading, and when footnotes appear inline with the text, that makes for awful sentence diagrams.1

The last change I’m going to make is to move email subscriptions to Mail Chimp. Everyone I know who uses MC loves it. I’m optimistic that it will be easier to manage on my end and posts will show up beautifully for you. That’s a win for everyone.

When I get that set up,  I will cancel the old email subscriptions. If you are already subscribed, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription – that will be for the new system.

As always, those of you who subscribe can stop receiving emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email.

Thank you for reading, for being here when I resurfaced. I’ve received such wonderful, supportive feedback on my last post. I’m excited to be back here with stories.
